We had some exciting things that happened late last week, as a flurry of visitors were learning and having fun at the farm. We had the 5th grade class from St. Columbkille's come and visit the farm as part of their wrap up to the final unit of the year. They participated in a variety of activities, including learning about beneficial and harmful insects that are found on our grounds, plants and herbs that we grow in different ways, how our animals provide nutrition for our plants, and even did a fun little scavenger hunt around the farm.
The 5th graders enjoyed their time with the chickens, ducks, and the goose, as well as, checking out our soon to be goat area.
All the students went home with seed kits so they could plant their own small garden at home. They got to choose from different custom kits, like a salad or salsa seed mix...
This group is only the start to our educational activities and tours for the season. Education is at the heart of why we do what we do, so there are many more groups scheduled to visit. If you are interested in coordinating a visit/activity, please reach out to us at reevolutionfarmstead@gmail.com.
